All students are required to have access to the Internet (high speed access is preferred), to purchase a headset with attached microphone and to activate the official FSU email address for communication purposes. FSU email is the official method of communication of Florida State University and students are expected to regularly check the email for important information and updates related to enrollment at FSU. For more information on the technology requirements and recommendations to enhance your online learning experience, please visit http://ischool.cci.fsu.edu/academics/online/requirements/.
How the Courses Work
Most courses offered for the master’s programs in the School of Information are offered in a hybrid online format using Canvas (an online course delivery platform) and Zoom (a real‐time, synchronous, virtual classroom environment). Each course will have a Canvas course website and will be scheduled to meet one night each week during the semester. Courses generally have a synchronous online class meeting time scheduled one night each week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from either 6pm – 8pm ET or 8pm – 10pm ET. Weekly synchronous class meetings are required attendance and students can participate from anywhere they have a reliable internet connection with a headset/microphone connection.
