Starting in June, School of Information graduate Kathleen Moeller-Peiffer will be the newest leader of the New Mexico State Library.
A few years ago, CCI wrote about Kathleen when she was selected as the VP/President Elect of the Association of Specialized & Cooperative Library Agencies, which is the destination for ALA members to find information and help their specialized library populations. After she graduated from Florida State with her MLIS degree in 1977, she worked in the public, school and academic library sectors.
Bringing 37 years of experience in Library and Information Science to the table, Kathleen has spent the last 11 years at the New Jersey State Library in programming, management, administration and legislative visits. Serving as the Deputy State Librarian for Lifelong Learning, she also oversaw the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant and its $4 million allocation.
Kathleen was appointed by Secretary of Cultural Affairs Veronica Gonzales, who said, “Kathleen Moeller-Peiffer brings a wealth of experience and expertise in library management programs. From planning to strategy to implementation, Ms. Moeller-Peiffer has collaborated with all of New Jersey’s libraries, administering complex services. She has forged working relationships with key statewide organizations, who in turn, have successfully advocated for the needs of the New Jersey State Library. We are thrilled to have her join our team and look forward to her leadership of the State Library.”
