Hardware and Software Requirements

All students are required to own a personal computer for the duration of enrollment in the School of Information.

On-Campus Students:

  • Laptop or notebook computer
  • 2.0 Ghz dual core processor or equivalent
  • 2 Gigabyte (minimum) RAM, 8GB (recommended)
  • 120 GB Hard Drive (SSD preferred)
  • 802.11 g/n/ac Wireless Adapter
  • Audio input and output capabilities
  • 802.11 b/g Wireless Network
  • USB 2.0 Port

Recommended but not required: Headset w/attached microphone. Note: An attached microphone prevents feedback and any echo effect. Earbuds may also be used if your computer has a built-in microphone.

Distance Students:

  • Desktop or Notebook Computer
  • 2.0 Ghz dual core processor or equivalent
  • 4 Gigabyte RAM (minimum), 8GB (recommended)
  • 120 GB (or larger) Hard Drive (SSD Preferred)
  • Broadband connection to the Internet and related equipment (generally supplied by the service provider). Cable or DSL highly recommended
  • Connection to the Internet
  • Microphone and Webcam
  • USB 2.0 Port
