Master’s and Specialist Awards

F. William Summers Award – The F. William Summers Award is given annually to an outstanding master’s or specialist student. The award is named in honor of F. William Summers, a graduate of Florida State University, who had a distinguished career in the field of library and information studies. He served as President of the American Library Association, the Director of the State Library of Florida, Dean of the School of Library and Information Studies at Florida State University, Director of the Doctoral Program in the College, and Dean of the library school at the University of South Carolina. Outstanding MSIT Student Award – This award recognizes outstanding graduate student leaders who are making a positive difference in their scholarly/creative, campus, and wider communities. Graduate students who exhibit strong leadership skills through such activities as peer mentoring, teaching, research, publishing, creative work, service, and/or participation in professional association activities are encouraged to apply.
